Facilitating Societal Conversations Using Game Play (aka-How RPGs Can Save the World)

Looking back through human history, we can see a constant expansion and contraction of “social” groups. Empires would spread, segment, crumble, then rebuild themselves. And during the crumble and rebuilding phases, people would learn about new ways of thought, but would stumble and fall on how to live in a world where different points of view can exist and they not feel threatened.

Then, in the late 70s, a bunch of friends in a basement solved the problem without even knowing it. Role-Playing Games  - the perfect system in which a shared experience with other people can facilitate hard societal conversations in a safe, gaming atmosphere.

In this panel, Daniel will guide the discussion of how RPGs can be used to tackle harder societal conversations and how to help players develop differing viewpoints about these topics within a safe environment.
